View Full Version : Temperature sensor-direct installation on cylinder head

Hey Guys,

I'm thinking on installing a temperature gauge kit either for the cylinder head
or the engine block, but not the coolant temperature.
I wanna install the sensor directly on the cylinder head/block.
For that I think the only way is to drill a small hole(about 2mm x 10mm) directly
into the cylinder head/block.
My idea is to cake the hole/sensor with heat sink compound & epoxy it.

What is the ideal, safe place to do that on the cylinder head & block.
I'm referring to RB30 engine, of course.

Engine/cylinder head is still in the car, so the place kinda have to be an accessible place as well.

Any ideas, thoughts, please?

Thanx in advance.

P.S. I uploaded few photos of the spare cylinder head that I've got. I think it probably can't be the exhaust side of the cylinder head due to close proximity to the exhaust.
I'm not that fussy. Either one of them(head or the block is fine, I think).
If necessary, I can pull the intake manifold out.
