Hi All,
4.2 EFI.
I have a small hose that belongs somewhere under the bonet. Yep. it comes from a the air box to a sucktion valve and wires off ot then goes to a long 5mm hose. BUT where to from there. I cannot find anywhere for it to connect to. Has some one got a diagram of where all the air and suction hoses go to aand from. Also need air box.

thanks
Kevin

Not sure. Can you post a picture? It will be lot easier to understand it that way.

Should be a little nipple on the top section of the airbox, on the short side closest to the passenger side bulkhead

Yep. Nothing's more useful than receiving a description of it from somebody who knows it visually. Mine's an RB30, so I can't give a definite answer, but can post the below link to TB42 vacuum diagram which I posted in one of my threads last year.

I got a little muddled up. I have that hose on the airbox. But where does the other end go to. Is it on the air intake tube to the airbox. there is a lump of glue suspect somthing.

Clunk said this, "Should be a little nipple on the top section of the airbox, on the short side closest to the passenger side bulkhead".

Did you follow it up?

yes I have. The long hose goes somewhere but no nipples anywhere.

The short hose is connected to the airbox

There was definitely one there on my old 4.2 efi.... but I dont have it anymore so cant take a photo for you. Are you on straight petrol or dual fuel?

dual fuel. looking at taking the LPG out cause its old, leaks and tank expired. I have been reading up on LPG Injection.

What you are saying is that that hose thats about 300mm long goes to the intake side of the air box because the other short hose goes to the bottom half of the air box after the air cleaner.

Are you having any misfiring or any issues of any sort along those lines?!

Line may be unused from LPG conversion onwards.

Plug the open end of that hose and see what happens(whether you hear a change in idling or something).

Well the engine now runs well since I did the tappets. Before that It ran on 5 cylinders at Idle. now runs on 6 at idle. But I am going to take out the LPG mixer.
then I should get better fuel consumtion. I hope. Does anyone use lpg injection.

What's removing LPG mixer has to do with fuel consumption?
What is your fuel consumption right now?
Not many GQs out there with LPG injection, as most of them have been converted to LPG before LPG injection became widespread.

If you don't notice any difference in engine's smooth running with the hose plugged, keep it plugged until you find out where it joins.

kbchez, the bottom part of that hose goes to the round tube from the airbox that goes into the guard, the nipple will be on top or if like mine has broken of and you will if your lucky just see a tine hole there

If it has a lump of glue there I'd say it has broken before and its been glued on and broken of again, you will probably find the plastic nipple still stuck in the end of the long hose........ same as mine :(

I have not got around to actually fixing the broken nipple. But I will be going to the hydrolic place and see if they have a small brass fitting maybe, I need to get a bolt drill a hole and solder a pipe into it.

Thank you

looks like its part of the pollution side of things.
You maybe able to screw a 1/8bsp to 4mm hose barb
Ill grab a link of what it looks like

something similar to this may work

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1-8-NPT-to-4-mm-3-16-inch-Barb-PORT-ADAPTOR-Aluminium-hose-fitting-BLUE-/171537139874?hash=item27f06908a2:g:KA4AAOSwZVlXoO3 0

Or drill hole same as the hose and use some RTV sealant to keep it in place

that hose fitting is what I am thinking of using and hopefully be able to put a nut on the inside of the plastic intake.

thanks for the link.

The hose from the air tube near the guard to the wired sender, and from the wired sender to the filtered side of the airbox are your "air filter service" sensor.
It measures the difference in air pressure between the the filtered and unfiltered sides of the air cleaner - and lights a warning light on the dash if your air filter is blocked.
It is not part of the "pollution control" or ECU for the fuel system - simply a warning light.

To repair the broken nipple, get an old pushbike cable gland (the adjuster part on the bikes brakes or gears that the cable runs through), or a tubeless tyre valve rubber.
Drill the appropriate size hole and bolt in the cable gland with a nut either side and some silicone to help it seal. Fit vacuum hose and your away.
If you use a tyre valve, you'll need to reduce the stem diameter down with some vac hose over the outer stem and the outer original vac hose. Super glue will hold it together if it fits but isn't grippy.
