That's not good, ive never been to the high country, can you obtain any sort of drinking water from any rivers etc, because 4 days over due ,would be stretching any ones water reserves id think ?

Im guessing little to no phone service up that way as well ?

Just heard on the news that they were experienced and had a PLB or Ebrib with them.

Either good news that they have stayed a few days camping for what ever reason or very bad if they are in trouble and can't activate their PLB

Yeah agreed without speculating too much at this stage. The few tracks through there are very overgrown verging on nonexistent by now.

No I don't think they were "off track" just into some heavy country. It is Seasonal Closures now do the traffic in that area is very low. They were very lucky but sounds like they were setup for bush camping

A good lesson there for any newbie and not so newbie, is you cant be over prepare.
Sounds like they had all bases covered,
Not believing the bit where the Patrol was bogged just sensational newspaper reporting
to sell headlines.
Re-do the story with a Jeep and nobody would give a toss, lol [joking]
