Hi all mid way through a big trip. stuck in Alice Springs with my patrol in the shop with ECU no power scan guage etc can not connect to ecu. engine cranks but not fires. Was stuck and have been towed and trailered 500km. was out past Finke on way to MT Dare in a party of 3. was a bit sloppy, larger puddle at end of day 5 mins before camp (puddle 15/20 metres long tire height). car started a few times at camp to to move trailer. Next morning car cranks but no fire, mechanics stopped to help. tried reset ecu via battery disconnect etc, checked no voltage at injectors whilst cranking. checked fuses. Now in the hands of a mechanic. He has come up stumped and is getting an autoelec to look at it tomorrow. Hope he knows more. I do all work on my car, but this one is hard away from home, and with a time limit to get home. Any construvtive help would be apretiated.

Regards Anth.

More then likely a faulty ECU relay.

Is the vehicle a ute or wagon?

When you turn ignition on (engine not running) does the battery, glow plug and check engine warning lights come on in the dash?

cheers Yendor just flicked you an email.
it is a wagon auto
engine warning lights come on but bit not glow a bit unusual, but glow did work for a very short period on probably 2 of the 30 od ignition turn ons that morning, mechanic mentioned engine emitoins worning was not lightoing, all othetr dash lights work. Cheers

Yendor is the ecu relay in the relay box next to start battery?

Yeah, I got your PM.

If the check engine and glow plug warning lights in the dash aren't coming on try swapping the ECU relay with the interior fan relay.

The ECU relay should be the top relay on the RHS above the fuse box inside the vehicle (on some vehicles it is the top relay LHS) try swapping this relay with the middle relay (interior fan) you will need to remove the plastic trim above the pedals to see the relays.

Thanks for everones help. Sorry for late reply, I am now back in perth and at my work desk...Arrhhh..LOL

It was the ECM feed relay swapped it out and al good. still had a problem with primer bulb/pump check valve not seeling and swapped it for a new one and all good. Thanks again Yendor.

BTW I used Johan at Outback Mechanical NT in alice the looked at my car and was getting the auto spark in to fault find but because I fixed the fault he didn't charge me. Would recommend using him in alice as he was friendly honest and done the right thing by me, he even works weekends. Oh but he is very busy. Cheers.
