Hello to everyone, just plucked up the courage to make my first post, ever.
Recently purchased "Gus", a 2003 GU wagon (310,xxx km). My partner likes him and she thinks his seats are "comfy".
Been spending a lot of time your web sight of late. Thanks for all the excellent info and tips. Really helpful!
Bought Gus with his engine in bits and no rego. Got him running OK with a second hand ZD30 DDTi.
"New" engine starts first kick, runs well, sounds tight, no smoke.
The fan belt is squealing, tried a couple of belts and about to check that the idler is pivoting freely.
The turbo sounds a bit like a siren.
Just fitted a Dawes valve and boost gauge. Trying to tune it driving it around the yard.
I'm not game to road test it without rego and insurance.
Possible "blue slip" and rego this week. Fingers crossed.
Previous 4WD utes have been a 1994 Hilux dual cab for the past 7 years and a 1984 720 King Cab for the 17 years prior.
Hoping Gus turns out to be a "rough diamond" and I'm looking forward to the extra power when towing.
Thanks again.
Bwian.
