Hi guys,

For the last few months i have been going 4WD with my uncle and have been bitten by the bug. My family and I are completely in love with 4wd. Now I just cant wait to get one of my own.
Also would like to thank all the guys for such a plethora of information on all things 4wd related.

Absolutely agree. I am however on a budget of about $8000, so i am thinking GU 4.5l petrol with high k's (i.e 300,000kms+) just terrified of the possible repair costs. I definitely dont have thousands to be spending on repairs. I am happy to spend money on maintenance just not thousands all at once.

Do you guys think that a GU petrol with those types of k's is due for engine rebuild or other major repairs???

Welcome to the forum mate. Your budget is going to limit you a bit I think.

I had four of those dumped out the front of my neighbors house the other day. Lol Everyone of them in great nic too.

Although a bit under powered, I'd go a GU with the RD28 in it, if your keen on a GU with that budget. With a few mods you can get these going not bad. But in low range, the difference wont be great, its no race when in low. Unless you go out with some of the guys from here....
Otherwise you will get a good GQ for that money.
