NissanGQ4.2

As some may be already aware I'm currently working for a steel fabrication company that mainly builds and fits custom canopies / trays for Utes and 4wd's and thought I would start posting photo's of some various projects in this thread for the POD / Tray members 2 give them ideas if they were looking at getting one built / modified.
Sorry this thread is not Patrol specific.

Yes, I like the 'covers' for the spares. Presumably you lay the tyres flat on them & then lift up the cover with the tyre on it when mounting the tyres?
The 'plate' at the top of the covers (when in upright position) looks like a handy spot for mounting some maxtrax.
Is the chassis extended on the Toyota? Looks like a lot of rear overhang with potential for a lot of weight behind the rear axle.
The undertray box built around the fuel filler is neat.

They come factory about 400 mm extended from memory.
You can see the fill pannel in the c pillar where the wheel usually sits..
Some great setups there..
Imo those wheel drop downs look good..
But still a lot of work getting them up..
But keep em coming..

There was a retiree years ago who had a Ute modded for outback travel,
the wheels were between the rear of the cabin and the pod from memory
they were kept in check with with a ladder type frame work that kept them
safe but also doubled as a ramp to load and unload them. It was one of the better
ideas Ive seen over the years for access to tyres etc

Sorry mate, I just fold the stuff so no real idea on price but would assume a few g's for a custom canopy depending on what you wanted and who you go 2.

Farked if I know bigguwesty, I havn't used a welder since the year 2000 and it was with a stick and only on steel.
I can ask one of the welders if you like, I assume from what I have seen they just clamp if need be, tac then weld.

A couple from a recent build of mine.
Bloke wanted a full canopy that can be lifted off via roof rack.
Twin 35's on the back, full roof rack.
Come up minthttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2017/12/65.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2017/12/66.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2017/12/67.jpg

Why are you so cruel? lololol
And no, I didn't catch any salmon - but for the first time, I caught about 5-6 herring - which are a waste of time, so I threw them back in.
I've ordered a flat pack of frozen salmon to be delivered by the next freezer truck that passes through town. lol.

This was something a little different for the boys in the last couple of weeks, a canopy build / fit out for a Hino 817 4×4
I believe the owners sold up their house 2 live on the road and tow behind it a 22ft Manta Ray Caravan..... living the dream

Hi guys, I'm in the process of designing a new camper pod I want to put on a dx patrol. I can't find the following measurements and hoping someone can help me out. I need the measurement from front of headboard to centre of rear axle so I can work out the Max length of the camper with my bike on the back ( 60% wheelbase). Fyi I haven't got a ute yet but will start the camper 1st. Tray measurements dont matter as i will be making my own to suit. Cheers
