Hi All,
I thought I would do a write up on fitting a brace on my coil cab.
I was led to believe it was a straightfoward bolt up job.
Every one else I read about who did it said it was,but mine wasn't.
The brace is flat but the towers angle slightly upwards toward the centre of the chassis, making the brace
touch only at the top point of the towers, leaving a gap at either end.
Also the brace I got was too narrow, not letting it go all the way down onto the towers.
I cut, bent and welded it and put extra bolts in the sides as well as the ones supplied to go through the existing holes
in the tops of the towers and brace.
Some pics.
1st. pic shows how much too narrow it was.
2nd. Gap with brace sitting on top points of towers
3rd. One side cut off and bending to suit tower angle.
4th. Both sides cut off as holes didn't line up with only one side off.
5th.Sides tacked on and ready to weld.
6th.Ready for clean up and paint.
7th. Paint me!
8th. Fitted with a few bolts still to fit , have to take springs out to get to them
9th. Tray back on to go and get lift fitted.

The pic of putting the tray on is actually in my carport which is square, although the camera angle makes it look multi sided.

I have cleaned up my shed lots of times, but I'm hopeless at keeping it that way, hence the lived in look it has at the moment!
