Missus brought a brand new opener last week doesn't work.
Got the one from my camp gear it worked PHewww
Then I remembered I had "Freddie" whats the go with
these to get them started do you need to pierce the tin
before using "Freddie" with a knife. need help bad,,,,lol

We use ones similar to the pic.
Not the cheap ones though.
We have had 2 or 3 of them in about 20 years.
Never had a problem with them and they last.
NASA recommended them for Skylab, and now I recommend to you.

I have got a MagiCan Auto, holds the lid & has an eject button, mainly gets used on home brew cans, you can hold the lid while you rinse it.
I have had it for around 15 years or so, works right every time.
I still think the old butterfly type were the best, but there are too many cheap copies around.
