More important than what oil is changing it frequently. Oil and filter every 5000k's is pretty much when most people will change. I used Penrite in the GU but am now using Delo in the Mav.

Welcome to the forum mate. You might like to do an introduction. I use Penrite in all my vehicles.

Hello and welcome to the forum , can you please pop over and post an Intro
before asking questions. No harm done but just something the forum asks of us all.
As for oil I use Penrite 5/40 and change with filters every 5000K

Castrol Magnatec 15w40 here. When the old ZD was stripped down the mechanic commented on how clean the inside of the motor was. So it must be a good thing.

Castrol Magnatec 15W-40 for me too. service interval 7,500- 10,000 km. Depends on driving conditions, lots of short journeys around town 7,500km, long journey 10,000km. 3L CRD 2008 has now done 126,700 kms.

Fresh oil has to be better as you suggest. We do the same using Penrite 15W50 and OEM filters. Might cost a bit to do so regular but a rebuild isn't in the budget especially a huge $ hit all at once. We have seen what it has cost to replace Roofy's, gets away pretty quick.

When doing the 10000 oil change I do the oil and filter but when doing the 5000 change should I do the oil filter too ?

I use to use Valvoline Super Diesel Oil 15W-40, but decided on a change to Castrol Magnatec 15W-40.

Penrite 15w50. Have used it on all my cars and at the workshop and have never had an issue. Their chemist is always available for advice as well, although I doubt you would need advice on a standard vehicle.

It seems like Penrite has a good nod from most people. I used to use it in my old 1980 MQ 3.3 litre diesel - oil change every 5000 kms and oil filter every 10000kms. I sold it at 360,000+ kms still going strong.

Another ✔️ for Penrite. I've been using it for years and very happy
