My Provent filter is now well soaked in oil. A replacement filter element is $79.
Has anyone had success cleaning a used filter element??
Seems a reasonable solvent should work.

Use petrol to clean it. Petrol is the only thing that will clean the oil right out. Then clean in hot soapy water, then let it dry and re use. The filter will smell of petrol but wont have the fumes so you will be right.

Just to add. Dont use the stainless steel filters. They dont filter as good as the original type.

Shellite is more expensive than petrol, but won't stink as much.
