Steering Column Mount Gauge Pods

Hi Guys,

Bought my first ZD30 and am in the process of setting up for NADS, among many other things.

Firtsly, I want to set up EGT and boost gauges.

Im not a fan of the pillar pods, however I see that column mount pods can be had also.

Does anyone have / use these and can tell me what the view is like and do they block much out on the dash?

I have a combined boost/EGT Autron gauge mounted in middle of column cover and it does not restrict view of speedo or tacho. Works very well for me.

However the gauge does not have a dimmer for background lights so is too bright at night. Auto electrician can easily fix. This may be just a DX issue as the ST's have a dimmer control.

Attached photo is taken on an angle but in driving position, all is good.

Pretty sure Mudski has a twin pod there ,buy the $20 one does the same thing.
I have a pillar pod but also and a triple pod on the dash easy as to wire using
some 7 core trailer 4mm wire.
I have my Ecu-Talk mounted there

Wiz, the dimming solution is quite easy. Will cost you $50. Redarc gauges are Autron re-badged. What you need is the 'Enhanced lighting controller'.

I have a DX with no dimming function & it does the job. You can set the brightness/dim-ness - only issue I have with it is that for the dimming level which suits me at night, it makes the gauge a bit hard to see during the day if driving with lights on. This probably has to do with my dimming preference, having had cataract surgery in both eyes. I can still read the gauge on dimmed in daylight, but it's easier if I just flick the lights off momentarily. It's quite a small unit, easy to find a spot for. Has + & - switches inside to alter level of dimming. Set & forget (ie. once set no need to access further, so easily hidden away under the dash somewhere).

Just under 60mm external. I've had it for 6 or 7 years so can't remember cost but more than happy with set up.
