Bumped have a search mate plenty written on it
it ranges from a 3ltr replacement rattle gun special
to a full body off Dura Max with 6 tunes on the dash.
Depends how many $$$$$$$$$$ you have and where you are

In Europe this is a really popular swap Steve
BMW m57 3.0L 6 cyl.
Returns 280bhp with a tune.
It drops straight in with a gearbox to engine adaptor plate!

Hi Steve, as threedogs said there's been a few build threads on here that might give you some ideas (mechanical/drivetrain/engine conversion). But the question really is; what do you use the patrol for and what characteristics of the 3 litre are you wanting to improve?

G'day Stevemac,

Personal opinion below, have mucked around with 3.0L's & Chevy's-Diesel&Petrol's nothing as exotic as you've suggested but :-) !

Driving the Mrs near stock 4.2TD again today took me back to what a standard donk can & should do, no overheating, descent torque, stressless day hauling nag's.

Some blokes here on NP.com.au are now pulling serious stats out of 4.2's with simple bolt ons/tweaks :-) !

Keep an eye on AB's 4.2'big 'T' stats forthcoming, it will smash my yanky weld in apart for sure :-) !!

Hiya MB, You I'll talk too but that AB fella is still in the dog house...

I kinda agree, well, I def agree about stock TD42 comments but I have yet to see a high horse TD42 have anything like the same reliability.

some good food for thought fellas thanks for all your comments. I drive a standard td 4.2ute now and am in a real quandry as to what to replace the vehicle with. A friend bought a 3 liter 2015 ute brand new ute and it shit its self towing his van, not that I am contemplating a toyota but I was away at easter with a chap with a seventy five series with an LS1 alloy holden V8 it was a very immpressive job and went very well. This has really got me thinking on options.
