I had a look at the Tanami Pumps web site today. All of their pumps are now listed as 'discontinued'. http://tanamipump.com.au/products.htm
Does anyone know what the story is?

No, i don't... but looks like the Metal Jerry version is still available.
Given the amount of dodgy ones out there (cans not pumps) maybe they were starting to get issues with the placcy ones going split rrse or people tweaking the pressure relief to pump faster and morons blaming the pump?

Nah, mate.
Dunno if the original Jiggle Syphon was produced by Tanami or not but the ones Cuppa is talking about are the adapter style outlet that go in lieu of the Jery Can cap and allow you to pressurise the can with air and force fuel up a delivery hose

My Bad tI know of the other one and best product under
$100 as i was up for the same award with my "Bush Hook".
I only just remember the pressurized ones.
Would be very easy to make one IMO

This is the one I think will work, and from the Old Dart

If you particually like one I can ring around there must
be a few lying around some shops

Been fiddling with a caravan water tank using air to push the water out, works well but doesn't need much pressure before the tank expands alarmingly.
Have a couple of ratchet straps and a piece of ply to "hold" it together, it works incredibly well.
Got a regulator and it wouldn't read 5 psi, more likely 2 or 3.
So don't put the air on it directly from your compressor!
Or these are a little beauty, fits in a 205 litre drum so very handy when we had a fuel drop.
Also came in bloody handy when the Patrol's transfer pump didn't work as well.

Anyone know of something similar which would fit into my 20l Rheem/Fuelsafe plastic jerries which have only 29mm diameter openings?

What are you actually trying to achieve,,,fill the Patrol via jerry cans
or filling Patrol via a 44 drum,
Dont you already have enough range, most have a 1000k range
no need for jerry cans.
I think the lower one will suit type in diesel tranfer pump in Ebay

I have the same cans and was going to do a mod when I get bored one cold winter day... so may I suggest the following
Grab a spare Cap (or two)
Get a Pressure relief valve, a Schraeder valve and appropriate T piece.
Drill the Cap and mount the T peice with a gland, Epoxy or whatever to the cap and fit the two valves
Modify a hose to fit the existing filler adapter.
Pressurise from one side and fuel flow from the other.
If you don't like the relief valve then a low PSI reg inline will do the same job

Hmmmm, you're not just a pretty face ET. Will put this onto my cold winters day list too. Are low psi inline regs easy to come by? I reckon it might be a bit safer & allow me to just fill the air tank & connect without needing to keep dribbling small amounts of air in periodically. (The designer of my setup didn't consider the implications of having the on/off switch for the compressor on the opposite side of the vehicle to the fuel fillers). :)

John, the aim is to minimise lifting around the filled jerries, in particular standing holding the jerries whilst emptying them into the tanks. No plan to be using 44's. I am using the Canning as the template for setting up for long distances between fill ups. If we can manage the Canning, we should be good for anywhere else fuel-wise. On bitumen our fuel range averages around 950kms. Bear in mind the wind resistance of the pod has quite an impact - it sits well above the cab & projects either side of it too. For 'safety' I like to refil at around the 900km mark. The best advice I've found for remote desert travel is to allow 25% extra fuel usage. This knocks the range in the tanks down to a bit over 700km. Range required on the Canning is a bit over 1100km (a bit less if having to rely on fuel drop). 6 x 20l jerries would increase our range to around 1180 (based on 80km per 20l jerry - would hope it would be a little better than that). If we were towing the Tvan, we would have the possibility of a further 3 jerries carried on the drawbar rack.
Reality is that most of the time we would not need this amount of range (or weight) & would rarely carry this amount, but I am just trying to ensure that when needed we can do it. I have a lull in the shed project at the moment so have turned my thinking to something I know will have to be addressed sooner or later.
My interest in a pump is based upon something which will be as small (& as least messy as possible) whilst allowing us to top up the tanks with the minimum of moving jerries from their storage positions. The smaller of the 3 you linked to was the sort of thing I was thinking about, but it's still too big to fit inside a jerry. I doubt I will find anything but thought it worth asking. Plans B & C are either something along the lines of ET's suggestion or even more simply but with a bit more effort, lifting jerries onto the side of the tray & using a jiggler hose.

Small in line regulators are easy to get.

Like this one, use it to pump up tyres to 40psi. Hook it up and come back a while later then do the next one. Easy as.
Also works at low low pressure too.

similar to what ET has suggested, I had the following (haven't got a pic or the pump any more - sorry)
I had a cap that fitted over the "real" Jerry Cans (oblong shape)
it had an air fitting, and a hose that went to within 5mm of the bottom of the Jerry
with the lid on & locked into position
attach tyre pump to put air into Jerry
attach another hose to the hose outlet on the lid - fit into fuel filler
turn on tyre pump
I think 1 min and 20L was pumped into the tank - but dont quote me - it was 20+ years ago & was Petrol
I will have a search, but I am pretty sure I never took a photo of it
all you were doing was using the tyre pump to pressurize the Jerry can, and force the fuel out

I have recently quoted a customer for a 3 psi relief valve that is fitted to a fuel filler cap for pressure testing/leak testing the tank just in case the regulator did not do its job, was expensive by 4x4 standards, but reasonable by jet aircraft standards, 3 psi will lift water 6'. They had tried to use a 1 psi check valve, it opened anywhere between 0.5 & 5 psi.
