MAF cleaning

Just goping to give the MAF a clean. Iv'e done it before but never disconnected the battery. What is the reason for disconnecting the battery when cleaning the MAF, assuming you dont have fault codes to reset?

So the ECU will relearn the new values of a clean MAF.
Just make sure its dry before re-fitting and the tool
is a T20 torq tool

All done - no change to the feel of the car or anything - but then again didn't seem to be dirt or oil on it anyway.

Yea John - I do it once a year. As I said though never seen any dirt come off it.

Will be cleaning the MAF this weekend. May be a stupid question but do I need to disconnect auxiliary battery as well? Should half hour or however long it takes to dry be enough?

Shouldn't need to disconnect the aux battery but I do in case there is an earth feed back or something. Only take a minute. half an hour is heaps for it to dry (in WA sun anyway) I just disconnect both batteries, remove and clean the MAF, wait 5 mins or so for it to dry then put it back in. By that time the batteries have been off for about an hour so I just connected them up and away we go. It disn't make it feel any different in my case but I felt better about it.
