2008 / 2010 Radio antenna

have been asked by someone I know about the radio Antenna in their Patrol
and I dont know, so am asking you guys......

their antenna is in the windscreen
how does it plug into the Radio???
is it a normal Ariel plug??
or does it need an adapter?

I would have assumed that it'd be a normal aerial lead and plug but to be honest, i have NFI either

need an adaptor (like a splitter) can get from jcar / autoban etg )
the antenna in the glass is for boosting the fm signal when normal is weak

my friend was complaining that when travelling, he looses the radio signal all the time
and he wants something, so he can atleast listen to the football at least
