Getting a set of black King steel rims.
-13 offset 17x8, is this correct for a set of 285/70/17, was told by Kings they are but noticed members using -10 offset.

Factory offset is Positive10. I run Neg 6 on my GUIV and reckon they are perfect. I now run 305/70 and they sit perfect with the guards.

Note that I also went to 16x8 in Neg6 as the16" tyre a are cheaper to buy and easier to find in the Outback.

I wonder why the manufacturer says -13.
Will check this out tomorrow.
Checked with the manufacturer, -13 is correct for my needs etc.....

As suggested go down to 16" tyres ,,, they are much cheaper and plenty of 16" in the outback
305's fill the guards very well on a GU

The tyre I'm going for only go up to 285.
Maybe next time around when the funds are better.
For the type of driving I will be doing for the next 2 years they will be fine.
King Rims @ $115 each
Thunderer tyres @$239 each
Around $1900 for a set of 5.
Found a small review on the Thunderer.
Thunderer R405 is a brand new tire brought to the US Market. They have taken great features from all the top brand Mud Tires out there and combined them into the great looking, great riding yet affordable tire. Awesome styling and new tire building techniques make for an all around performer. Scallops Lugs, High Density Kerf, Full Lug Siping, Wrap Around Tread Design will get you deep in the woods and get you back out. X-TREME

MudRunner & TD are correct 16” tyres are far easier to source once away from the cities.
I have 16 x 8 neg 13 on mine running 265/75. I believe 285’s will fit ok too.

Unfortunately I will be using 17's as these tyres are not available in 16 - 305
