Is it worth fitting a switch on the dash somewhere, that will link both batteries
in the event of a flat start battery.
I had a switch under the bonnet on the fire wall on my other 4x4 just for this reason.
I carry jumper leads all the time as its an auto but feel a momentary on
button somewhere on the dash would make life a bit easier in the event of a flat
battery

Thats what I have in this truck (switch on the dash) def more convenient for the Chev

On a couple of ones previously I just had a connector on the Isolator fly lead under the bonnet

Yeh I've got a switch for my batteries as well connected to the redarc system. Two schools of thought on a "on-off" switch Vs a momentary switch. I ended up going with the "on-off" switch personally

Cool might grab a missile cover and momentary on toggle switch and fix
it to the centre console in one of those three knock outs

Is that switch to engage the aux battery to start in the event the main is unable?

It's connected to the blue override wire coming out of the redarc, so you can manually join the batteries for a jump start or when under heavy loads during winching (if your aux battery is appropriate)

Issue with mine is the piranha doesn't have an override function. So i either have to get a basic heavy duty solenoid and cable to create another manual dual battery link. Or swap out the piranha for a redarc dual sensing solenoid. Or just leave it with jumper leads....haha. I would like the link for winching.

Redarc wont break the bank if you want that over ride function IMO

I've got one in mine and used it the other day actually and worked really well. Battery is not that old but car had been sitting in the workshop for a while. It was probably just started driven outside then back in the shed every day and drained it. Any way went to pick it up and went to start it and was flat as. Flicked tne switch (forgot i had it for a second) then it cranked beuitifull, so happy i got one. Mines a carling type one and the plan was for those occasions and winching.

yeah, I have one on mine as well, just an "on/off" type

my patrol sits around mon to fri, so it helps when starting it after a long time of not being used

turn on, start the car, turn off again - easy as

Yep I have a carling style momentary on rocker to link the batteries, using the blue wire on my redarc. Works fine, you can hear it make a loud click when you flick the switch. Saves getting the jumper leads out in the event of a bat flattery and once I install a winch it could provide a little more grunt in an emergency (albeit I have read you are supposed to use the heavier version of the redarc if you are going to use for winching) guess I should research that more before I use it like that...

Lucky you having it sitting around till needed grrrrrr lol
I can only wish like a few others here..lol

Not much real estate for switches ATM it will need to go
low down on the centre console where the 3 knock outs are
encased in a missile cover, too easy to knock a carling style on
and forget the two batteries are joined
