Hi, I'm Adrian, the daughters boyfriend has a patrol, which seems to be falling to me to fix when it goes wrong. Figured I should join up with you guys as it seems to have ongoing issues. Might have something to do with the fact that he drowned the car after owning it for all of a few hours.
Appreciate any help along the way.

Welcome to the forum mate. Keep the patrol, get the daughter a new boyfriend that doesn't drown trucks. It may have electrical issues and require a new alternator if it was drowned. Also look at threads here about water in diffs and gearbox as they tend to fail a while after they are drowned. Not knowing the circumstances or if he has extended breathers etc, I would be getting the diff and gearbox oils changed ASAP.
