Hi all, just joined and I'm about to buy a 2004 GU 3.0 ltr 250kms

Can I get some advice of what to look out for, I'm new to 4X4 and never been off road but I want to tow a caravan around 1800kgs loaded, I have a Jeep Cherokee 2.8lts but it's not preforming when towing, (overheats and is gutless on hills) I'm going to a auction yard NSW country to purchase on 27/02/16. I have put a holding deposit and they say they will refund if I don't take the car. I have read about the 3.oltr motors suffering from maf problems leading to major engine problems. What do I look for? Is there other things to look for when I inspect, Any help is good help. Thanks

Hi mate, welcome to the forum. That is a lot of kms for a Di ZD30. If your budget will allow I would find a Common Rail ZD30 which came out in 2005 or 2006.

How much do they want for a 2004 ZD30 with 250,000 kms on it?

Welcome to the forum mate. I have an 05 Di with nearly that amount of Ks but I don't tow a van. As MudRunner says, its a bit of an ask for that one, see if you can get a later model. The 3ltr problems lessen after the GU3 but its always a bit of a guess. The other way of looking at it is with that many Ks its probably not going to grenade. I just read that back to myself and gee its helpful - not. Good luck with your purchase mate.
