I replaced the air filter at 26000 km and at 34000 it has some sort of oil on it.
I have installed the provent 200 catch can to stop the vapors reaching it.
What could be the reason for the oily air filter?
Can the turbo be blowing back or something.
It's still under warranty so if it has a problem I can advise them, Mr Nissan just say it's normal?

Can you take a pic of the filter. And where exactly on the filter is the oil?

Hello mate. Does it look anything like this ?
I've now seen many patrols do this. Including my 3L.

Good read there.
So now that your servicing yourself has the issue gone away?

The last time I serviced the 3l including new air filter problem was there a week later .
Haven't noticed this on the 4.2 ... yet.

The genuine air filters are oiled out of the box.

If pre oiled then its dirt that has soaked up the oil and this makes it look like engine oil. It looks the same as above photos just not as bad.

All genuine nissan air filters do it. I've had aftermarket air filters in my 3l and have not got that oily look to them.

I also thought that there was a problem. But was told the the genuine filters have a oil film on them.

This is good news.
So the genuine filter or ones with oil on them are the better way to go, just like the dirt bikes?
