Hi Guys
I'm currently running 16x8 black steelies with a -32 offset. My tyres are Cooper ST Maxx - 285\75's
I really want (not need!) something a bit snazzier and really like Black Rhino Imperials. Trouble is the nearest size they do is 17x9 with a -12 offset and 112 bore.
First question is, will they fit?!? With the extra inch width but a smaller offset, will they stick out more, less or similar.
Finally what size tyres will I need to have something similar overall size to what I have now? Am I right in thinking 285\70? If I got 285\75's again, with the bigger rims it would make them approx 34" - would they fit without rubbing?
I'm in the UK, so don't have to worry about running repairs in the bush!
Oh and it's a 2003 ST 4.8!
Cheers

They will fit easy. It is only adding 1/2 an inch to either side for width and -12 is only 20mm less than the other wheel. Easy to see if you just look at how much space you have on the inside of the wheel now.

I would go to a 305/70 r 17 fitted to the 9" rim. Same size as the 285 but wider. I run them on my gu.

Thanks guys.
I guess that's what I need to know if that tyre size, offset and 9" rim will fit without fouling.
According to my research the 285/75 17 is pretty much exactly the same as a 305/70 17. The only problem is the Cooper ST Maxx's I want only come in 16" at those sizes :(

...or does anyone know of a similar wheel to the black rhino imperial that is available in 16x8 with a negative offset?

Not sure if you have CSA wheels there, Might be under Mullins maybe. But they have a wheel called a raptor that are pretty close. These are a -13 offset from memory. 16 X 8. 6479764798

They look nice, but according to their website they only come in positive or zero offset. But they aren't available in the UK anyway :-(

The rims in that pic are identical to the RockCrawler rims i have on my GUIV in a 16 X 8, neg6 Offset
Your Neg32 offset is a Huge offset for an 8" rim? they must sit out quite a ways?
So in the old language the difference between a 285 / 75 and a 305 / 70 is the same as a 33/11.5/16 and a 33/12.5/16. just a wider tyre.
The GU Guards are massive and should take either of these tyres with ease. You will almost certainly need to remove the front mud flaps but that is probably it.
