I bought it as a fully sorted Race Bike (Formula Extreme for 2 seasons) fully sorted. Balanced and Blueprinted, undercut gearbox. Still wearing race glass.

Hung it from the shed roof for 2 years and restored it back to glory. Presented it for the road with Zero Kms on the clock. Beast.

Paint, Polish, sticker kit, electroplating all done.

What you don't need a bike license? Pretty sure in NSW you still need a license 2 ride a postie on the road

I dont have any on my phone but currently own a YZ450F of the 2008 vintage. Have ridden a few road bikes 600 and 800 ducati monsters, kwaka gpx 250, suzuki across 250, fzr1000, yzf600 but the quickest one so far has been a gixxer 1000.

I will not buy a road bike as I tend to ride fairly fast and I most likely end up dead. I have ridden since i was 8 and raced motocross and dirt track for a few years. I will have to get a pic of my yz

Same reason I didn't buy a road bike and got the XR instead, I was thinking of buying a road bike but had a go of a mates Honda CBR 600 and after riding that thought I would probably end up dead if I bought one

Me same. Nothing better than the feeling off power sliding into a blind corner of dirt at full noise.....
But I started off on an 1985 XR500, then went to a Yammy TT250, which then was made a 320. Then went to a Husky WR250 (favorite), briefly to a 360, then I had a Yammy WR450F.
I've really had the itch lately to get back on, but I know, and the wife will remind me, why I stopped. I might try to think of a way to magically "score" a bike... Lol.

That was the next door neighbour’s Clunk. After years of only having bikes, we bought our first car around the time of that photo, an Austin Cambridge. I think that may be it on the rear left of the photo. I reversed into that Hillman the first time I brought it home. Didn’t go down too well as I still hadn’t got my car licence by then!

Actually after having a closer look on the lappy, I think it's a Hillman Avenger rather than a Hunter........... My brother used to have an Avenger and it was common to see it parked up with the bonnet open lol..........he upgraded to a Fiat 127 - another rust bucket.

I agree... some classics in there that are worth a small fortune today.

I started out working at St Kilda Motorcycles when I was 23 and they mostly speclialised is cafe racer singles and I spent a lot of time with the historic crowd (Mostly Jap)

I was a nut for the GPZ900r and had about 10 of them (mostly to do up and sell).

Most of the bikes I had at the start digital cameras were not about and I have not scanned the pics.

I'll have a look later for all my bike pics..

Here is a list of some of my favourites.

Kawasaki GPZ900R

GPZ900R racebike that nearly killed me at Broadford.

ZX6R 97 model (loved that bike)

CBR600f4

YZF750... classic and loved it and was from a time when there was some of the best Superbike racing

XR250 92

sr250 built as a cafe racer

TS250 my first bike I would ride on the road.

RD250 air cooled

CBR250RR racebike

CBR250R racebike

And many more shitters and projects and bikes I bought from auction to do up and sell and others I have completely forgotten.

First bike was a 65 Trophy with 66 Bonnie head on it with dunstall 2 into ones single leading shoe front brake woeful.
Then went to WA to work in the Mines, was on the list to receive one of the first black motor Kwaka 9s to come to Aust.
Boat was late holidays were due so ordered a custom black 750/4. raced them in different guises over the following years
some ended up being 10.5 sec bikes, One was nearly full Yosimura spec, Then had a rest , next was a V4 750 honda didnt like the 16" front wheel,
Too twitchy on corners, brought a cb 1100 r only 6 came to aust, fastest production bike at the time 1981.,,,,,280 kph and 10.5 out of the box
Worked at a lot of Honda dealerships throught Aust, Then I got Married and the bikes went on the back burner lol
would love to race historics

As for being a fast rider , Id say take it to the track safest place to speed everyone
going the same way, cant beat it, tracks Ive raced on were Wanneroo, in WA
then Hume weir , Calder, Winton, Sandown and even had a chance to do some
laps of the mighty Phillip Is curcuit

My first road bike. 1985 vt250 Honda

64586
After discovering the old 250 was too slow to safely overtake anything on the
highway I upgraded to the 1988 Kawasaki GPX750R

6458864589
Then I got a 2004 Honda CBR1000RR.. insane bike and probably had too much fun on it

64587
I had the fireblade for about 5 years then thought its time to slow down.
Enter the 2013 103ci superglyde

Turns out I still like going around corners so I bout this 2014 Kawasaki GTR1400.
Ive had it a couple of years now and it has a good blend of comfort, speed and handling.

Ive also got an XR600 which lives at my old mans farm as it has no place in the city.
64609

TBH tho, the old man has an awesome collection of bikes (most not collectable) including a 125 Ag bike(unknown model), many dirt bikes, a 2010 BMW R1200 GS
64610

a little honda rebel which i rode for a while... incredibly small!
64611

A BMW K75 with a sidecar fitted its quite comical and a 1938 Harley Davidson with original paint and everything except the pipes. it used to be a police bike in QLD and he inherited it from my grandfather who obtained it though his work(as a police officer) hopefully ill get the change to inherit it one day. i dont have a pic of it atm but ill scratch around and see it

Ex police bikes were a great source , Ranging from triumph 650 saints,Kwaka 650 twins even BSA gold Flash.
Not sure of any others we never had the Harley servicars in fact we never had Harleys for a while.
The bike group I rode with [the Vigilantes] were affiliated to race thats why most members had some of the fastest
street bikes going around at that time. The club is still going but now is Harley orientated. Not a fan as they dont go,stop or handle
my BIL sold one for $50k ,even late 70s early 80s ppl were fitting turbos, but to race you had to double your capacity. Meaning
most would have to race in un limited and believe me there were some very fast bike in that bracket.
Calder Park had $1.00 a run Drag nights on Friday so instead of going to the pub we'd all meet at Calder and have 10 runs each
You were mainly racing yourself to better your last time , but still heaps of fun

Back in the days in the alleys behind Elizabeth st [bike central] there was a guy called Harry ,
who was building a triple kwaka 750 H1 drag bike, for those that dont remember these were 12 sec 1/4 mile death traps
750 two stroke triples way back in the early to mid 70s. Two pipes up one side and a single on the other.

Hey Boots, yeah Tassie's a great place to ride. From my 3 times there on a bike the roads were generally in really good nick with just the right amount of curves. Nearly got blown off the bike by a gust of wind crossing the bridge across Lake Burbury just out of Queenstown. I was up out of the saddle!! Farrrrrr................!!!!!

:driving2:(except on a bike!)
On the toy run last year a lady got blown off her bike at hwy speeds and died!

In turn one guys would be leaning on you with their knee and you would have an elbow resting on the fairing of the bike on my inside.

What a great bunch of photos. Thanks for sharing.

Riding bikes jumped a generation in my family. Grandad (Dad's dad) told me stories of a Triumph he had back in the 20's or 30's. Belt driven. One local hill, famed for it's length & steepness was always a challenge with the summit being reached with smoke pouring off the slipping belt. Dad never rode & I had to go against his wishes to get my first bike.

Well, looks like I'm about to inherit my wifes VFR750, she's signed the paperwork on a brand new BMW S1000xr.

The RC36 VFR750 is regarded by some as the best road bike ever made. Beautiful gear driven V4 motor, lots of torque and an amazing engine note. Suspension is a bit tired and will need a bit of freshening up but, it's an absolute pleasure to ride and it's now a modern classic.

I started road riding when I was about 14. Used to ride my 68 Trophy to school, no rego, no license. I was a big boy and didn't attract attention from the boys in blue. Didn't get my first car until my mid twenties when I meet a new girl friend ( my wife ). When I discovered that she could balance a bag of groceries on each knee I knew she was a keeper. Only bought the car to keep dry when shopping.

Most of my early bikes were British, 500 Triumph Scrambler, 650 Triumph Trophy, 650 Norton, BSA. Later it was Harleys, WLA, lowrider, Ultra-glide. Then Japanese, road rockets & tourers ... MK3 500 Kawasaki, 750 Suzuki Waterbottle, 500-4 Honda, 750-4 Honda, Z1B Kawasaki, 1500 Honda Goldwing, 1500 Honda Valkyrie.

I once thought that I'd never stop riding, but as time went by I discovered that I'd lost my "edge". You guys that have ridden for a long time will know what I mean. I'm 62 now and I still love bikes, and it is a life style that I dearly miss.

Yes mate I know what you mean, I'm 64 in a couple of weeks but I do love bikes still and just can't stop riding even though I'm not as good as I thought I was years ago 😊

How bad is the 96? They're the pick of the bunch!

That said,

I just picked up a set of fully adjustable forks and a CBR929rr rear shock to put in mine along with the four pot calipers I got for it. Will be a great match for that beautiful V4.

The 96 is rooted irish. Was in a bad attack and landed upside down. Smashed all top side of bike, tore most of the loom with it. Frame is bent and broken in a few spots. Forks are mangled. Motor, rear swing arm and wheels are about all that is ok. I'll be putting the single side swing arm on the 88 model eventually. BIt if a task but doable. I still haven't seen then in person yet. They are residing at the old man's place atm n just haven't had time to get up there.

Long time between posts , just brought this 2011 XL1200X 48 sportster
only damage is front wheel and forks, only paid $3k should be ready for
reg in about a month, wrapping the pipes in black bandage, most things
will be a black theme. Its keeping my mind off the other things in my life.
Its a sort of a tribute bike, good therapy if you ask me. more pics when some more
gear arrives, I have a wavey drilled disc coming for the front, and a custom coil cover.
The gear linkage was reversed . I think it was for racimg, they tell me the motor is worked.
I wont know that till I get the guys from Doc Hogs or Harley Heaven to ride it.
I can tell you it is very very loud from those Vance and Hine pipes, going to fit
flat handle bars to it as well

Edit; things Ive found so far are external oil cooler, a vacuum operated idle thingy
an oil temp and oil pressure gauges.
The tank has a dent in front of where you sit no creasing or cracks
Awesome nick for its age, not an oil leak in sight, or signs of weeping.
starts first pop no choke, its fuel injected with a performance module
to increase fuel.
Damage is bent front forks , front rim is US, I have a new one at Harley heaven
It had no seat but they are cheap as chips on ebay, HD parts are a bit steep
compared to after market stuff.
Few more pics they even have an exact model cool as, the spiked cone is my new air filter
that will look awesome when fit
other pic is of the performance module.
more pics we love pics
One pic shows $600 worth of extras

Ive found out more about my Sporty Its a 2011 XL1200X 48 it has a 2010 XLC model tank probably cause it was bigger
and allowed them to race for longer. The rear wheel is from a 2014 model, my win imho.
I have a roll of 1/8th pinstriping tape Im using to highlight a few parts.
The number plates for the bike have arrived, they look great, wish I never had them deep down
Ill update pics very soon
See yo got to meet Santa, whats he like lol

Nearly went Yamaha AG-200 faithful but found Honda’s latest XR-190L to be the only I believe fully road registerable ADR compliant unlike all others with only reccy roads or farm 25km maximums allowable within Victoria.
Just need MudRunnerTD Legend to kindly collect it for us and store until this lockdown is finally over thanks again Daz [emoji106][emoji106]

You lost me on this Marko’. You can fully road register just about any dirt bike as long as it has its own charging system with a battery, fully operational indicators, headlight, tail light and brake light. I fully road reg’d my Husqvarna Wr250. All legal, then I decided to put Rec reg on it. Fark that thing was a weapon.
I remember having a drag race against the Mansfield coppers down at Sheepyard Flats on this. I hit the throttle so hard in 4th on managed to pull a massive wheelie in front of them and flip the bike and slide down the road at 90kph! The coppers were laughing so hard too!!!

Your Husky must have thankfully been ADR compliance plated then Mr Mark?
It’s possible its just an agricultural bike issue too I guess?
Our nearest Yamaha rep I spoke with over the phone upon nearly placing the order for their AG200F said although it had all the bells and whistles mentioned above it wasn’t ADR approved for full road registration, only reccy or farm registration allowed on their model.
Same scenario I’m lead to believe too for the Kawasaki Stockman 250 and also the Suzuki Trojan 199?
Maybe it’s their lower AG gearing holding them back which wouldn’t allow them to keep up on arterial roads at 100kmph?
Honda on this new release XR190L appear to have kept a low 1st for paddock crawling without fanning the clutch yet stretched out the top ratios to hopefully keep up out on the highways [emoji106][emoji106]

Grant209 BMW the most under rated motor bike ever

Threedogs

I find BMW's are like any bike, You Either Like Them or You Don't lol.

I have generally always liked Touring Bikes, My 2nd bike was a Kawasaki GTR1000, then a 10 year brake before I got the R1150RT in 2016. I had always liked the R1150RT's, but did look at a FJR1300 n 2016 as well, as I've been told by many with RT history that the FJR1300 is even better . . . but the AM/FM Radio of the RT swayed me back to the BMW. I do find the RT solid, stable confident bike on the road . . . so the FJR does make me wonder.

Been asked about maintenance cost of the BMW a couple of times, but the internet now days offers up so much information, thanks to YouTube it has given me the confidants to do all my own maintenance and repairs on the RT which has help greatly, and I generally work on the theory if it's running nice, don't touch it lol.

Have known Santa for 2 years now, I see him 4 to 6 times a year at charity bike events, He's a big figure and is loved by all who knows him. He's does a lot of charity stuff and treats me well each time I see him, so generally get on well with him.

Bought this beast a month ago. Suzuki C109RT Boulevard. 109 CI or 1800 cc. Unregistered when I got it, needed new tyres & a tidy up. Finally got it on the road a week ago.
Fitted with a Gman EFI controller & Timing Retard Eliminator.

Here is my 1985 BMW R80RT that I have spent some time restoring. It rides well and is very reliable but I still want to do a few bits and pieces before it is finished.

http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=80835&stc=1

The bike is sitting on the turn table I made up so I can ride it into the shed, spin it around and it's ready to ride out again. Saves trying to do a 100 point turn in the shed.

I had a very similar R100RT for a while. Bought it when the K series were first released. Prices of twins plummeted for a shor time & I got it for a song. Sadly it dodn't excite my youthful (at the time) self, & I sold it after 5 months & a trip around around France. By then the prices had gone back up, & I did quite well on the sale & bought a Mk2 Guzzi Le Mans. These days I'd probably opt for an RT (or RS) over a Le Mans .... easier on the wrists! Lovely clean looking bike you have there BillsGU

Cuppa It's a 1985 model (the first of the mono shock) and I have had it for 17 years. It was fairly ordinary when I purchased it and initially I spent a lot of time on it by pulling it apart and refurbishing it from scratch. It has been parked up for a couple of years because I just have not had the time to ride it, but last year I did some sorely needed maintenance on it - took it for a test ride - and fell in love with it all over again. It goes very well and is a pleasure to ride.

Is that a rigid rear end Figjam?

Figjam

Not rigid. It is a soft tail with an airbagged rear.
Rear end rises up 2-3 inches from stance in photos

With a name like Bovril I guessed you were a Pommie. My younger half brother is touring around the 'top' at the moment with a few mates in campervans doing the NC500. I had no idea what that was, it didn't have a name when I did it back in the 80's. Great country up there. Different, but equal to anything we have here in Oz.

Think we’re in need of a brand new clutch on a brand new bike already :-)

Uphill deliberate stop/start lessons were challenging but downhill roll on releases were more fun :-)
Thankfully Honda and all others keep their gears in a box so they don’t fall out :-)

I have small hobby paint pots in orange and black to cover some
alloy bits on the rear mag, should look great imo leaving the
