They could just slap a better motor in it instead of being dicks and stopping production, but that kind of crazy outside the box thinking has no place in Nissan.
Imagine a Y61 with that 140kw twin turbo engine from the new Navara?

How about they start putting that v8 cummins from the titan into the patrol or import the titan here

I thought that engine doesn't meet the emissions law either ? Which is why it's not in europe or in Au ? I could be wrong.

Logic would say that if we are currently at Euro 4 with Euro 5 the next step then the quote from the article below should mean its ok
In the US, Nissan has employed a Cummins V8 turbo-diesel, which meets North America’s EPA 2013 emissions limits (similar to Euro 6 targets)

Probably not viable for them... would cost a lot to re-engineer the Patrol with the new motor and they are only still selling the Y62 in a few countries.
But still, like the article says, the Y61 Patrol accounted for 71% of new Patrol sales in Australia last year.

Seeing the Cummins motor meets Euro6 emissions on the Titan
that would be an awesome motor to put up against the opposition.
Sure body styling is abit dated, Maybe just maybe its the end of the 4x4?
they are not making the Pajero any more, they have stopped making Landrover
Defenders, and Nissan show no signs of whats to come in the future.
Grim pickens from where I see it going

The article says: "Euro 4 emissions regulations have been in place in Australia since July 2010, with Euro 6 compliance for all new cars due to follow the shift to Euro 5 from July 2018." Would that mean its legal to put a TD4.2 in a Patrol up to 2009 even though they came with a CRD engine?
I hope so.

Does this mean that a TD42 can be installed in cars up to the end of 2009? I hope so.

This news has me seriously made me think twice about the thought of selling my 01 GU 4.2TD. A week ago I was looking at the $$ sitting in the shed but the more I dwell on this news the more I see a reason to keep my grubby mitts all over it.
If TD's hunch is right and this is the end for "real" 4x4s on offer in Oz then I think it's a no brainer. Only option would be some Toyota models.
I reckon you'd look great in a Jeep Wrangler [emoji8]

Aren't they stopping those Toyota models too though?
I think you would very much regret seeing the big GU go.

I'm pretty sure I would cry.
Why, Plassy? Your TD will just keep improving in value.
