Hi All,

Looking at my next big thing for the GU, it is almost stock (alloy bull-bar and dual battery)
Front - 1340kg
Rear - 1260kg

Considering one of these two options, any recommendations please;

1.Superior Engineering

The kit includes the following Superior Suspension Parts:

2x Front coils

2x Rear coils

2x Front Superior Engineering Nitro Gas Shocks

2x Rear Superior Engineering Nitro Gas Shocks

1x Superior Engineering Steering Damper (Which I don't need)

4x Castor correction bushes

2. Ironman foam pro + Ironman or any other springs

Thanks

fitting yourself or getting them fitted?

for around $800, you could get a set of king springs (off ebay) and shocks (depending on the brand)....... I went TerrainTamer shocks bought locally in Perth for just over $500 and the King springs off ebay.

But like Growler said, what sort of 4wding are you planning?

Mostly town running, 25% rough roads but nothing hard core like rock crawling.

Loaded with camping stuff when going out but nothing extremely.

I can fit it myself but wondering what sort of tools I will need. Fairly mechanical minded so won't be a biggie but tools may get in way

Well TJM XGS Gold or ARB Old MAn Emu (OME) with the correct spring rating and youll be fine.
If you are gunna fit it yourself you need spring compressors metric socket set, H/D axle stands and a good trolley jack

no spring compressors required for a 2" lift. i have installed 6 " springs without compressors :p

what is your budget? i am a big fan of Old Man Emu 2" lift mate. great match to your car.

As cheap as possible [emoji4]
Both of my original proposal come around $1300. Ironman installation is only $100.

Recently I came across some comments here about Ironman pro performing better than ome, I was originally to go with ome.

I know it is a personal thing but ride quality is I am after

Will you be towing in the near future, and have you finished all your accessories
like dual battery etc ??? swapping the alloy bar for a steel number

TD, yes, I got my dual battery installed, it is very unlikely I will be going for a steel bullbar or winch considering how much i will be using it.
Towing, nothing other than a box trailer.
We are getting used to carry everything within the wagon now. Even fully loaded I don't think I will be exceeding another 300kg (total, not per axle) on top of the above loading I mentioned in my first post.

As I am using the car for school, work, shopping for most of the time and some moderate 4wd'ng during holidays I prefer to consider high on 'ride quality'.
The car will be loaded only until we get to the camping site, after that minimal loading.

I am happy to consider ANY combination and other options but prefer to buy it from local shops for support, reason for my two options on Ironman and OME.
OME will cost a bit more to install so will be considering DIY.

you really want the softest spring/coil rate for the accessories you have fitted.
If you are after say an EFS system and come down to melb every now and then
I may be able to help you through TJM Airport West.
PM sent

TD, does it softer than the stock or softest in the after market terms.

The feel in the stock is alright but I would prefer slightly firmer in the corners (reduced body roll).

I noticed one of my workmate has EFS in his troll, I will check with him and take his troll for a drive and see how it feels.

I will be in touch with you soon.

Ok I had a talk this morning with the guys at Airport West, and there is a TJM 4000 series available
as well as EFS, either one would be great for your Patrol, the finished ride would be what you tell them you want.
If towing though Id put slightly heavier in the rear

I have an ome kit in mine and can not fault the springs.
The shocks have been great and work like new still but are valve a tight and stiff for my liking..

don't forget at minimum a brake proportion bracket as well, and maybe swaybar extensions

I like a soft spring setup with rear airbags for extra support when towing or heavy loads, best of both worlds but will sting you some extra $$$
