Ok so starting to pit together a list of things I'd like to see in this gu..
One of the things are the gauges..
what I'm after is how are people finding the 2 in 1 gauges?
From pics of say the egt and boost gauge the increments are very fine and the difference from say 450 degrees to 550 or 10 psi to 15 psi is a couple of needle thicknesses..

Are they difficult to glance at to see what's going on and if you bought the 2 in 1 gauges do you wish you'd bought seperate or are you happy? ?

Have a look at McNally gauges. I use their boost and egt gauge in a single cup in between the speedo and tacho. Easy to read too.

I chose to go with 2 in 1 gauges & am very pleased with them. Clarity & ease of reading was high on my priority list, as was trying not to clutter up the limited real estate in the GU cab any more than necessary. The EGT/boost gauge shows the boost in digital figures at the bottom & the EGT on the ‘analogue’ gauge which is large enough to easily read at a glance. The water temp & oil pressure gauge has an ‘analogue’ scale on either side of the gauge for each & is also easy to read. It also has an option for another temp reading if wanted, presented as a digital readout at the bottom of the gauge, but I didn’t bother with that, thinking it might make things a bit too ‘busy’. Colour & contrast can be adjusted to suit. Not cheap but I haven’t seen better. Better in reality than in the photo as there is more contrast between the ‘needle’ & the face than the photo shows.

That's option is a good setup..
might just have to save a bit more to outlay on the redarc gauges..
They do seem to be one of the best out there..

Do you mean the red line Winnie? If so, no you can’t, but you can set the alarms wherever you want. They are both audible & visual (beeps & background changes to a pre-set colour).
I have my EGT set at 525deg, oil pressure at a tad under 20psi & coolant at 100deg.

Yeah, bloody typing on the phone.
That's cool though.

I think there is too much going on in 2 in 1 gauges for see whats happening at a quick glance as you point out.
VDO do a great gauge ,very easy to read as well. I have speco white face and find them easy as well.
PM me if you want to do the dual pillar pod, cancell that Ill sms details for you.
Plenty of pods that sit on top the dash too.
Redarc are just Autron copies

No they aren't, they ARE Autron gauges. Redarc bought Autron, or at least their gauges division.

I'm using these, also not cheap but manufactured by aviation company so hopefully they will last ( two years so far) normal adjustable warnings and I find the analog and digital duel display easy to read and differentiate. 63847

Ow. So what do I have??
I didn't think the dash has changed from series 4??
And do plan to get the scangauge..
But I do want a egt and boost outside of the computer.

You should have a series VI

The first of the CRD's were series V (from March to Sep 2007) which is what I had and purchased from Tuppa who was the first owner from new.
They were a minor tweak of the series IV but with the CRD engine

The series VI was more of a true update and ran from Sep 07 to Dec 09

Now... why do you want a boost gauge?
You got sumthin' against MAP?

My Scangauge spent most of it's time with the display set on;
MAP, Water temp, Fuel Flow, and Volts with a VDO EGT gauge.
That worked a treat for me...

I just have a think with trusting computers lol..
How quick does the scangauge update info?? Will it pick up spikes?

Yep, a Diesel/Petrol powered 'Poota is a reasonable description of cars these days

Don't be, it won't be anything with the pootas that give you any grief

Yep, agree, WHEN you get a Scan gauge you will see that they like a bit of welly.
Not 'flat to the boards, burst off the line at every light welly' but get the sucker up in the torque band and keep it there then feather right off when cruising speed

Yes, but get used to what is normal and perfectly acceptable "spikes".
Almost every ECU controlled VNT turbo on the planet (and there are tens of millions of them) are 'under' damped and will exhibit an oscillation when compared to an 'over' damped mechanical system.
The spikes are a normal and it is only the changed magnitude that is an issue

Awesome mate.
Well SG is next on the list after the radio install..

Looking at this guy.. it's a dual but only goes to 800c on the increments ate larger..

I think we all need to take a moment to appreciated that statement: "simplistic abacus of a gq" - true geniusness spoken there

As an aside, I have a '10 Series VII CRD. How is the fuel tank capacity entered into the Scangauge? Is it with the main and sub tanks added together? That is 95L for the main tank and 32L for the sub making a total of 127L....

If you are using the 'how far to empty' functions then, yeah, you can do that if you want.

I never bothered as I had a LRA tank so the Sub was like an emergency reserve so to speak.
All I did was check the 'litres used' as I was pulling in to the Servo and filled up.
Unless I had been wringing it's neck down the beach or in the mud with lots of wheel slip then it usually took the amount used within 1 or 2 litres to fill her up.

Mine was chipped and on 33's so it had +11% as the compensation figure you enter into the scangauge to get the accuracy of +/- 1%
It will be different for everyone tho...
