Jumped in the Patrol this morning on petrol no issue, switched to gas all good. got in this arvo and started her on gas and the engine light was on straight away. Drove her no drama. When I came home i tried the old disconnect the battery. Light still on left the battery disconnected for 10-15 minutes. Turn it on and off a couple of times and when the light was on it didn't like running on petrol (thinking air flow meter) as it would idle but if I put my foot down it would fart and burp. Gas as normal was no issue. I started it again light off no issue on petrol. interesting fact when the engine light was on the air cond was not cold, with the light off the it was as cold as ever. Any of the smart guys out there with any ideas please.

Cheers

Might just be a blockage, Filter? in the petrol side of things, or a faulty solenoid in the gas/petrol system not switching properly, that is it might be trying to run on both. i think the aircon bit might just be a result of poor running and not connected with the issue. Dom14 might have some ideas if you want to PM him.

My old one used to do the exact same thing, turned out to be the windscreen was leaking water into the passenger footwell and it filled the ECU with water.
Replaced the ECU and it fixed that and a few other problems that had been piling up as well.
My brother-in-law had the exact same problem as well, worth a check.

Does your model have those inline basket filters?

What year and what engine do you have? I've had issues with the aircon and starting circuits doing weird things (In a toyota van) and it turned out that rats had chewed the wiring loom and had shorted some wires out.

Winnie, i just had the windscreen replaced today for RWC purposes so i will check the ECU idea out as it has been raining here for the last couple of days.

If the ECU is having trouble maintaining a consistent idle speed or is in limp (fail safe) mode it will turn the A/C off.

I would start by checking what trouble codes were logged.

Cheers Yendor, Started her tonight no drama, rode the bike to work today cause the sun was out, will check out how to do the codes and have a crack on the weekend.
