Mounting LED light any ideas please

I just received two led lights which I thought to mount it on the roof bars for camping purposes.

if any of you had a similar or different setup using LED's can you please advice/post a pic which I may make use of the ideas.

I'd personally mount them under the bar in that spot. Get them lower oand more protection

My plan is to bring the wire along the centre pillar and through the existing wire grommets to the dash area.
But I will need a good wide sticky tape to achieve this.
Is there anything for this or is there a better way to do the wiring. The only thing I am worried about taking the wire through the door is water ingress during pressure washing.

I have two of these lights which I am planning to fix on both sides. Is there a switch I can operate light1, light2, and both lights? Like a 4 way switch?

You can pull the door trim out and run it along the
channel under those step plates that simply snap on
I have wires running down the B pillar into the Patrol
just go easy where the wires enter when you wash it.
GQ or GU ??
I use either the yellow plastic from chip board flooring
or a straightened out coat hanger to "snake" wire through
difficult areas

Thanks for the suggestions TD, Mine's a '12 GU. I run my RCA wires for the amp on passenger side step trim so I am fairly familiar with the setup. I noticed the second row door's electrical going through a rubber grommet through the middle pillar but fairly closer to the floor so I need to bring the wires from the roof bars to almost closer to the floor, if I can workout something to stick the wires to the pillars it would be a neat hidden setup as I noticed the pillar is almost always hidden from view. I will see how I go and surely will post a HowTo once finished.

Sounds good you could run an on/off/on carling switch.
Would those telecom antenna wire [brackets work]
They are square about 25mm x 25mm with
tape on the back you hold the cable in place with a

Hi All,

Just did a mock-up of my led floodlight installation.

I used 40x40 steel section (not sure what they are , but that's all I had in my shed).
Hoping to use the same size 3mm thick aluminium angle section for the final.
I like to have the aluminium section to looks professional, not sure how I am going to achieve this with simple tools.

What are your thought on the installation guys/gals.

I don't seem to have enough space there Westy.

The hand-grip on the roof bar mount and the black plastic cover on the roof bar end restrict the space to mount the light.

I will give it another try anyway, never hurts to make sure twice.

Yea now looking at the pics it does look a bit big..
What about flipping them and grabbing a slim line 6" work light / bar from led light co. Same out put as the double row ones but much slimmer..

Yes it is super solid TD. May be because I know that I did that or because as you said TD, it does stick out a bit.
I think I liked my mock up setup better (previous photos).

These bits slide inside the rack and with a bit of flat steel should hold the light nice and tight

I use on of these lights on the rear of the vehicle, however I now have an awning side and rear and mount the LED strip lights in there.

My usage of the light will be mostly general purpose (put up the tent, cooking, etc).

I fixed two in either side in case parking direction restricts or where cases you want to have a look at the sides for safety.

I haven't fixed any awnings yet, how often you use the ownings, given it is fixed full time?
