I went for a drive along the Coorong today with some of my family.

We came across a Navara that was recently abandoned on the beach, found out after that the driver was on the beach on his own and got bogged a month ago.
He abandoned the car and the tide destroyed it, shows how important it is to always have at least two cars down here.

My sister and my nephew decided to get bogged at the same time so I got a bit of recovery practice.

Then my other nephew had a slight problem with his Feroza.

When we noticed the hole in the side of his block and the bits of piston on the sand we figured we were not going to get it going so towed it back to Meningie.

I towed him out, put the Patrol in low and it pulled him out easy.
When he called on the radio to say it had gone bang and there was steam I assumed it was a head gasket, was bloody amazed when I saw the hole in the block.

He said it never got hot but he had done a head gasket and warped the head a few months ago, had a new head but it may have had some other damage from then.

Those Feroza's are junk... Irish's wife had one and part of the gearbox decided it wanted to come through the transmission tunnel and it was only later he realised how close it came to taking out her leg.

Looks like you had some fun along that stretch.

I was enjoying myself a few hours south of you at Cape Jaffa.

Yup, steer well clear of Feroza's they are death traps.

It was the tailshaft that let go from the back of the gearbox on Beks car, tore a hole in the transmission tunnel that I could stick one of my shovel hands through.
Just about 10cm from her left leg:

63612

Back of the gearbox/transfer:

63613

I still have the tailshaft somewhere, going to frame it and hang it. Kinda looks like when someone snags their arm on a lathe.

Holy shit, that would have scared the hell out of anyone having bits coming into the car.
I will show this to my nephew as he is thinking about changing the motor and keeping it.

Just a normal day at Salt Creek....

Last time i was down there woke up in the morning and my swag was covered in a inch of sand from the winds over night.

You'ld be glad to be off the beaches now, as there was wind warnings issued for down this way for today and yesterday.
