Hi there everyone.

I am a new member in this great site. New to Nissan Patrol, too.

I bought a used 2005 wagon, 4door, 4.5 gasoline engine, S, 9passenger, Manual transmission Nissan Patrol Y61. GU

The VIN is (JNbBY11Y25X508XXX)

I wanted to change front and rear differentials oil. I faced a big problem.
It's about the drain plug.. The filling plug is easy to open using a 1/2 wrench, the drain plug, I've never seen something like it, is the problem
This is the rear.

Another question, what is written in the sticker of the rear differential?

The first photo looks like, somebody stuck a drive socket in there and snapped it flush with the plug?? Maybe just me but thats what it looks like.

Worst case scenario is you obtain a new plug and you take your Patrol to someone that can Mig weld an old 1/2 inch drive socket to the seized plug and use a breaker bar to undo it. Oh yeah, make sure you can get the filler plug out before you open the drain.

If the oil is coming from above the clutch lever rubber, then suspect the tappet cover at the top of the engine is leaking.

If the oil is coming from the hole then I suspect a rear main seal. Is there a hole or plug at the bottom of the bell housing you can open?

I've tried many times to put a screw driver and take it off, but it doesn't work.

Thanks mate.
WELDING?? I'm sure that there is another way. You know the circle hole doesn't contain a 1/2 inch driver. I think there's a metal part stick with this, if we take this metal circle part we could have a 1/2 inch plug.

I think the oil is coming from the rubber. I will check this again.

Thanks again.
