I have a GU with TD42T and auto trans that I converted myself and have been asked if a TD42Ti could be matched to a TB45E auto trans using the TB45E TCU.
My TB45E TCU requires my TB45E ECU to be in place and communicating with each other so I assume it would be the same for a TD42Ti but the TD42Ti ECU doesn't appear to have the data connection links for auto trans.

I've searched but can't find any references anywhere to a factory TD42Ti auto. Was the TD42Ti version even produced for any market other than Australia?

Cheers

No.
I searched for one as I legally can only drive an automatic.
Look up red book your answer will be there.

Edit.
I was looking for a GU.

Does the red book cover Japanese or Middle East, etc markets?

Maybe look into a stand alone TCU. From memory whole sale autos do one.

There are several simpler options than paying Wholesale's exorbitant prices.. A GQ TCU works and would be easy to install.

The GU is currently converted and is using the standard TD42Ti ECU which doesn't have the data link pins for the auto trans.
The desired outcome is to convert to a TB45E auto trans with TB45E TCU but that needs to be connected to the ECU.

I know the TD engined GUs were never imported into Australia with auto trans.
My question, and the title of the thread, was whether anyone knows if Nissan produced a TD42Ti auto for any market.

I don't think they did John. It would have been nice though.

Cheers Mat, I'm wondering if the TD42Ti was only for Australia after all. If they'd built it for Japan, they would surely have added the auto as they did with the GU TD42T.

My search through Partsouq catalogues only references a TD42Ti RHD for Australia with MT.

Probably going to show my complete ignorance here
I have a Jap import 1999 TD42 import that is auto
if i can do anything, that doesn't require a mechanical brain, more that happy to check anything on the car

Thanks Tim, yours would have the mechanical injection pump so it would have no ECU to govern the pump timing functions. Yours would also have no intercooler from the factory.
