Remote control for winches

Hi all and merry xmas ,is it worth fitting a wireless remote to a winch or does it delay the response even further.
Was toying with the idea as Wireless remotes are cheap as chips, just as easy to run the hand control back to the
driver window.
pros and cons please

I have one with my Runva and personally I really don't like the delay in it... It's somewhat scary. You let go off the button and the thing is still winching in for a second or two. But that's just me.
I have taken the wireless box out of my Runva control box, for now. As my control box is going behind the bullbar again, I am mounting the plug in point at the front as well as inside the cab.

However, I have HAD a remote on my Warn Zeon 10S on my 3L patrol and that wirelss on it was much much more responsive and smoother. The remote its self was much better built and trustworthy.

Yes, it does introduce an often unwanted delay over remote in-cab switching or the cable controller.

On the upside, the wireless remotes don't disable the manual control and can occasionally be useful if you are setting up or cleaning rope.

My current winch came with wireless remote already but I mod'd my previous one (a Warn 9000) which was a relatively easy mod

Once your use to the delay it's ok. I like the remote as it gives one hand on the wheel full time and the left hand with remote can still change gears flick switches hold on etc... and no cables to get tangled..

x 2 agree with Hodge. Whilst I think they're still useful at times, the delay would take a bit of getting used to

Yeah to me it is more scary when you let go off the button and the winch is still winding... I guess it's more annoying for those finer winching moments when you need minute adjustments...
But definitely has it's advantages.

A quick word of warning we’ve recently found for cheap wireless remotes good folks!
Setting up our little log private coupe trailer we’ve trialled the $26ish dollar one to remotely guide them up.

Potentially dangerous as they have their quirky moments sometimes uncontrollably running on for up to an extra 1.0m found :-(

Never again for us, the poor man pays twice, here’s hoping that Warn can safely get the job done next week.

Problem solved thanks to matfew ‘s kind 4 pin to 5 pin plug conversion onsite wiring help!
This new Warn wireless controller has perfect response time even at its rated 50’ away and slightly further found too!

Now we just need to save like crazy for an actual Warn Hi Mount winch for longer and faster retrieval before the King dies :-)

Was quite impressed how well the warn one worked. I had one of the early Tigerz 11 in my old dato ute and even made it into the patrol in early days. It had the wireless remote but was actually half decent. Did run on but only a tiny bit. Must of gone real cheap China now days as marks original one was pretty bad.
