Hi lads,

Trying to install this second battery So i can write up a bit of a guide etc. Ran into a snag already!

I need to re-locate a thin(ish) metal pipe which runs from a black unit bubble thing near the over flow bottle, and it connects to a metal unit on top of the motor. See attached pics for explanation.

It seems to be pressurised with air. I'm a bit reluctant to let the air out (ie: disconnect the pipe and move it) in case I stuff something up!

Can anyone tell me if I can do this? Also, what the hell is that black unit thing on the 2.8's!?? I've always wanted to know that!

So yeah, what do those two items do, what purpose do they serve?

scouring the manuals on here without luck atm. Impatience is a bugger!

Thanks guys.

Ok I found a thread on another forum saying that the black tank is a vacuum tank. 1 bloke has removed part of the the metal pipe thats in the way and replaced the section with rubber hose. Is this still safe though? Why would they use metal pipe in the first place if it's only vaccum?

the vacum could crush or blow the rubber pipe
double check before removing

Yeah I think I need some reinforced vacuum hose. Going to check the local auto store out!
