Switches in dash not illuminating...?

Hello gang..

I have an 2001 GR Patrol, (im from iceland by the way) and during our dark winter months it bugs me that none of the switches in the dash illuminate.. that is when I turn on the headlights, so im fumbling in the dark trying to find the switches..

any ideas on this one ?

yes,, its only the switches that dont light up, rear defog, rear heat, etc
