View Full Version : Useful websites library

I thought I would start a 'Useful websites library" thread that will help us all.
I wanted to make it simple, so:
Put your useful website in the 'Title column' in the 'Useful Websites library' thread (you'll have to click on 'Go advanced' in the bottom right hand corner to get your thread title) and in the text, just put the website link and a brief description of what it's all about.
If anybody likes it, they can save it in their 'favourites' folder for quick and easy access.
There are some 'live' website, like the Bureau of Meteorology', where the info changes consistently, but they also provide good 'history'.
I look forward to your responses.
Take care out there.

Bureau of Meteorology http://www.bom.gov.au/weather/radar/
Map of Australia with all the weather radars. Click onto your chosen radar and see what's happening. Gives a view at various distances of your choice - up to 512k's away. Lots more info too.
Don't forget, you can save it as a 'favourite' and get to the site quicker.
Take care out there.

We were going to put this one on here but there has been a lot of controversy around the web about this new feature they did.
I think It's a great idea but a lot of people are outraged that their quiet local tracks will now be flooded with people using them with these tracks listed for the world to see.
Other people are worried that tracks may start to get closed down if too many people start to use them due to this map.
I'm 50/50 with it.
There is only one downside to it. Anyone is able to upload tracks and info. I had a look at some local tracks in Yarra Valley region.
There's a track listed in the heart of Yarra Glen which explains how It's an awesome 4km mud bashing journey, etc.
The map shows a wetland area they have fenced off for regeneration so I hope no city slickers come barrelling through the area tearing up the land in search of this 4km track.
The idea is great, they did a good job but my concern is that it will be abused with prank tracks and may cause problems with quiet local areas...maybe?
