I have installed a new radiator but it has an extra outlet that I had to block off. What is the extra outlet for?

BTW it is in a 4.5 GU http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2015/11/230.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2015/11/231.jpg

It could be an outlet for an auto transmission oil cooler? or for a return feed from a thermostat housing or something?

The radiator has two connections at the bottom for an auto trans cooler. The outlet that I blocked off is directly connected to the coolant (i.e. if I don't block it off, coolant comes out). I wondered if it was a coolant return line from the turbo (when fitted to a turbo diesel?

Has the new radiator have a cap? If not, it might still be for the over flow bottle.
Go back to the place you bought it from and ask them for further information about it.

G'day mate,
my 08 3.0CRD has a totally different top on the radiator.
Main hose is on the left and the small outlet you're referring to takes a small hose across to the plastic pressurised overflow tank.
My guess is yours has a setup without that tank (or it's connected differently....unlikely) and so your new tank is a unit made to fit a number of different models but the supplier assumed you would be familiar with all that.
I suspect some suppliers derive twisted pleasure from having you come back for the answer they should have given at sale.
Luck,
Col
