Hey everyone.

I'm Stewart from Perth and last month I bought a 5/1999 patrol.
Its my first 4x4 and I'm planning on keeping it reasonably stock but everyone says that.

Its in pretty good nick for its age, I'm the 4th owner, the second owner was an old guy that had it for 11 years
and only added 40k to it. Currently it has 120 on the clock so barely ran in!
As most patrol owners have experienced it has the wobbles between 90-100kph so sorting that is my first job.

Welcome mate, surely the best forum on the net.
If you need it, you can get it, if you want to know it, just ask it.
If you want to find it, go to the search bar for a universe of information.
Enjoy the sights and sounds of the greatest show on earth.

Thanks guys. Feeling the love already ☺
I took the old girl into Robson bros for a full check over and it needs a bit of work.. a few minor things but the suspension is shagged and needs a wheel alignment / new front diff.
Other than that they said it looked alright and for the price I paid I'm still in front

mate, Gumtree is your friend for parts

have seen several Patrols wrecking, and only $500 for suspension, $200 for diff's
(there was one with front air locker and onboard compressor for $800

Robsons are great - but way to expensive for me.........

actually, your suspension dont look too bad in your photos

I've seen worse.......... as in 20mm from top of tyre to guard............... now THATS shagged then...........

Cheers I'll check it out.
It's already got a 30mm spacer and is sagging about 20mm.
It's all good as I want to lift it anyway

Welcome to the bottomless money pit that is owning a 4WD Stewie. . . . . at least you bought a Trol and not a Jeep!
See you at work!

I put new speakers in the old girl the other day and noticed there are wires going to my mirrors? I don't have electric mirrors so just wanted to know if this was common??
Also does anyone struggle with FM radio reception?
Cheers

By the look of it you have an after market head unit... I found out recently that GU's have an antenna in the rear passenger window as well as the front aerial -- it may be possible when the after market head unit was installed they only hooked in one antenna.... Don't ask me how I know lol

I think the rear windows antenna is AM. I could be wrong. When I got my windows tinted the bloke told me the reception "may" be shit after tint is on, if the tint is metallic. Something along those lines ...

Never had a problem with reception and the windows have been tinted twice
I thought and was told the rear left window has a heater in it.
happy to be wrong but makes sense
