Are these 100 amp ebay alternators any good?,
likely to last how long?.

I have put a Patrolapart 120A alternator on my GQ TD42
If you put a bigger alternator on you will have to run another cable fused from the alternator to the battery, or else you will blow the main fuse if you are pulling the capacity from the alternator. Happened to me when winching.

You really need to buy the best you can with whats available.
some may have better warranty, I think my OE alternator cost me
around $450 I think could have been cheaper, I forgot to tell them
to fit a larger 100 amp job at the time my bad eh

O.K a little learning curve for me knowing nothing about electric matters it turns out that my twin battery setup is 12 Vt in-series running off the accessories side .This means when the back battery dies it creates a open circuit that drains the primary battery as soon as .My symptoms were main battery died after 15 min. then tested alternator and got a reading of 10.2 Vts .Step 1 new primary battery no good step 2 new Alternator still no good , the second battery was holding a open circuit ,maybe Yendor or a auto lecky could explain in a bit more detail but am grateful too my boys coming over and helping the Old Jumby out after 12 hr night shifts .
