Hey guys,

Scratching my head a bit here after trying to wire up my new light bar. There is already spotlights wired up so I have piggy backed off the high beam wire going to the relay for them. Spotlights still work but not getting any light through the lightbar at all...

I'm sure I am missing something very stupid, but given that its 43 degrees here atm I'm hoping someone on here could point me in the right direction rather than cooking myself all day trying different wires etc.

Heres a diagram of how its wired up currently, any help would be greatly appreciated!

first things I would check................

put power to LED bar, and make sure it works
then
power to the switch from other relay
power from Aux battery to Fuse Block
power from fuse Block to relay

if all good

swap relay with another (I have brought a pkt of 10 relays - and only 6 worked)

ummmmmm
when checking if it was working, you DID have the high beam on..................... so power could get to the switch................

Is there 12 volts at pin 87?

If so are you sure you have the Light Bar polarity the correct way?
If not is the -ve of the Aux battery and the Main Battery common?

Haha yes I did wonder whether I had full beams on... But I did, tried different combo's of lights. Will test the things you suggested cheers mate!

Is the wiring in diagram correct though? Hopefully its just a dud relay!

Good thinking mate! I wasn't sure which way the plug polarity was, because it came with a sort of anderson plug fitting.
Both batteries are earthed to chassis, and run through a DC to DC charger.

If the battery earths are common yes, the wiring will work, if they aren't then no it won't...

Again, if you have 12 volts at pin 87 then check the polarity of the Bar
If you don't have a meter jump the wire for pin 87 straight to battery +Ve

Thanks for your help mate I will check them after work tomorrow!

Yo Ash what size light bar are you trying to wire up???

Just a thought but have you piggy backed the new switch using the wire
from the head light high beam to original switch Then run a wire to new solenoid.
I think if you use the other wire it wont work If that makes sence

That might be a good place to start mate! If I'm not getting power at 87pin then that could be a reason why! Cheers

A bit delayed on getting this sorted as I had a flat battery, then my headlight combination switch crapped itself... But finally got the Lightbar up and running!

The previous owner had wired in the spotlights with a connector clip that ran up from the headlights (one black wire, one red), for some reason he used a black wire to run the headlight +ve feed and a red wire as an earth (am I the only one who thinks this is retarded?)... I basically piggy backed the wrong wire, didn't test it like I should have done then spent a day re-wiring, and scratching my head until I noticed that. PITA but all sorted now and it's bright as!!

Thanks for the contributions guys, it helped narrow down what to test and made the process a lot quicker! Love this forum:bigthumbup:
