Well i havent had the gu for more than 4 days and the radiator is stuffed.

I noticed the surge tank hose a bit loose with a little bit of dried up coolant around the end of it so i decided to tighten the clamp and (keep in mind the engine is still running) it fell off, hose and the tube bit attached to the raditor (did i mention i got covered in hot coolant, burnt my belly, chest and left boobie), anyways now i have one stuffed radiator.

It was bogded up with a peice of steel tube in it from previous owner or there mechenic.

MR nissan wants just over $1000 for one ( im sure i didnt say the gold plated one).

Found a Adrad one for $500 pick up tomorrow, my mate said stay away from cheap ebay ones.

Anyone know if im paying to much ($500).

Also are they a straight forward remove and replace?

Any thing i should know before i start.

I will be replacing rad hoses will im there.

Cheers.

Phil.

Hey up mate, I chucked up a pretty detailed write up of working on the cooling system. Might be able to help you out a little, theres also a few warnings of things that can go tits up.

Did the spout on the radiator that feeds the overflow bottle break off??
If so it can be repaired using a 1/4 bsp to 5/16 hose barb. Use tape and goo
mines been broken for years without dramas

wasnt sure if it was that area but thanks for pointing it out, Pffft lol

I could prob fix it by taping and fitting a 1/4 bsp fitting (might be enough room) but i dont want to take any chances with it.
Once i get the new rad in ill attempt to fix it and keep as a backup.

Fyi. You can buy just the plastic tanks if its an oem radiator. Maybe even if its aftermarket too. Not sure though.
I bought a new td oem rad for my truck and it came with the top tank cracked. So a new tank i ordered and i just have to get it fitted.

All done, 2 problems with it,
1 being the drain plug was busted and i didnt relise until i notice coolant leaking out, fixed that with old rad drain plug.
2 rad cap didnt fit, had to modify the cap to fit.

All up and running now.

Old rad would have needed to be removed and cleaned anyway so glad this happend in my driveway and no hundreds ks away,

Thanks to all that helped.
