Hi There,

I have noticed a very small leak (if it can be called leak) in the front side of the gearbox sump.

I´m saying leak, but it look more like if it was sweating, since there is not any oil stain in the floor and I cannot even appreciate any forming drop within that point. Just when I pass my finger on I can feel the oil there in the surface.

It does not seem something really important. I have checked the gearbox oil level and looks ok.

Any comment, feedback or suggestion from you guys would be very welcome.

Cheers,

Itll be good to know the answer - I have a similar problem on the sump of my TD42. I suspect they may be similar issues.

In the bell housing joint area.

Gearbox Front input seal.
Or gearbox front Input Cover Bolt Holes, oil weeping via the threads.
I suspected mine was bolt holes as the seal looked very dry when inspected.

but there is always the chance via messy oil change,
"Run off" is finding its way along joints, and appearing to look like a leak else where's.

Hi Robo,

around the drain plug.

Provided that the drain plug is located facing the car front end in the corner of the sump (passenger side). This kind of oil "sweating" extends all along from the drain plug corner to the other side of the sump. I'm not able to see any dropping formation, and it looks like a thin film of oil distributed uniform on the surface of the sump. There are no stains in the floor of my garage. So I'm wondering if it is just the aging of the car and something I can live with or if better replacing the gasket??

Cheers
