Hey guys i have a 2001 ZD30 GU with 321000km on the clock and in the last few weeks it seems to be running a bit "rich" and blowing a little bit more smoke than is usual, its running fine and oils and fluids are all good im just wondering whether the injectors need tending too or whether is something more sinister. I had it serviced 2 months ago and nothing showed up in the mechanics report, if it was a petrol engine i would say it needed a good tune up and and maybe the carby adjusted, any help would be appreciated..cheers Paul

Could be anything from a dirty air cleaner to a warning of a disaster. Have you changed your fuel supplier?. I would check air and fuel filters first up.

G'day mate. Try to clean the MAF sensor. That will be your cheap start to eliminating potential problem.
Just Google cleaning ZD30 MAF or search this forum. A ton of info on it.

I assume we are talking black smoke here?
agree with everything above, to pick up on a bit more what threedogs said, as well as the well known boost issues with these engine, if you have a boost leak, you will also have black smoke, check your intercooler and all boost hoses.
