New to Melbourne (originally from Perth) and new to the Patrol, I pickup my first 2012 GU early next week. Any suggestions for short day trips to test out the new rig would be much appreciated.

Welcome to the forum mate. What part of Melb are you in ?
If you're north you have the Mt. dissapointment/king lake region, and also tallarook and toolangi a bit further north. To the west you have the wombat forest, and a bit further west the cobaw area.

Yeah you're smack in the centre. Straight up Pascoe Rd, Camp rd, Jump on hume head north 40 minutes and worlds your oyster !

47 kl past the Donnybrook service centre turn right at Ennis rd and Drive,
caution on the bends some ppl cut corners. Mountain trk is on your right
goes up to Mt Hickey look out. Grab some maps from TJM Airport West
