Hey I'm sorry if this has been covered but I've tried searching and nothing particularly in depth seems to come up. I'm wanting to convert my tb45 gu to manual using a tb42 gq box as gu parts are few and far between here in nz and the gq gearbox is practically free. I've heard that the gq shifter is too far forward and a hole needs to be cut, which i don't really want to do. My question is do I have to cut the body of the car, or is there a metal plate that bolts to the tunnel like in gq's (I think) which I can cut instead? Alternatively would it be possible to heat and bend the shifter arm itself so it comes to the right position? I've also heard that gu's use a dual mass flywheel which means their bell housings are much deeper, could I maybe use the deeper bell housing and a dual mass clutch to move the gearbox backwards enough for the shifter to fit? Any info appreciated as I don't wanna go cutting into the body of my truck. Cheers
