I got a GU about 2 months ago, too the rated recover points off my old GQ, the holes line up, but I cant figure out how to mount the one on the passengers side, as unlike the GQ which had the chassis rail open to get a plate in there the GU chassis rails taper up to a point at the front, is there a trick to getting nuts in there to mount recovery points?

Hi Skid you will need to make a plate with nuts welded to it.
Or if there are any inspection holes along the chassis tack a piece of wire
to a nut so you can do it that way.
Mudski did it on his Series 1 but he removed the bullbar and opened the chassis ends.
Or if you have 2 captive nuts under the chassis on each side my folded ones will fit.
What area are you in?????????????

I'm located in Ipswich
Had a feeling I'd have to open up the end of the chassis rail... :(

Have you thought about selling these plates with the recovery points John? Sounds like there is a good market for it.

I have rated points on my 2006 3.0 and the passenger side was simple I removed the factory tow hook and used the capture nuts already in place. I got my plates from threedogs a while back--easy fit and all holes lined up.
I did mount both of them on the inside face of the rails

They only sell road safe copies with a wire tack welded to a nut.
TBH Im not sure they even know what fits what.
Same as Clunks but a tad cheaper

Still trying to figure out how I get the large U shaped plate into the passenger side chassis rail as even if I open up the front when it has been bent in, firstly there still isnt enough room to get the plate in, secondly if I were to use that plate or a nut welded to a peice of wire, I would have to put it into the chassis from the front, which would be difficult as I wouldnt be able to put my bull bar back on then....?????
