First up, is I can have the Boost gauge in, without the need for the Dawes Valve ?? Yes ? I only ask, because all diagrams see and elsewhere have it with a Dawes Valve . .

Second, is is essential to have the Manual boost control needle Valve ?? I have red that it isn't priority, and people have installed it, and have never touched it ?? I'm lost as to exactly what it does ?? Can I get away with not having it ??

I have installed the Blocking Mod today, and want to move on with the others, but still a little lost is all. . .

Yes you can have a boost gauge and or an exhaust gas temp gauge without the Dawes valve and needle valve. The gauges by them selves will tell you what is going on but theres nothing you can do abouit it if they are going through the roof except take your foot off. The dawes and needle valves enable you to manually "tune" your turbo boost and spool up time . All together they make up the NADS system which enables you to manually set some perimiters and take control of your engine management system which can sometimes do the wrong thing and cause the engine to run too hot or over boost.
Its often a good idea to install the gauges before the rest of the NADS so you can get an idea of what your motor is doing when you are driving around. Often once the neeedle valve is set you don't have to move it again, but why no have it there so you can change setting if necessary. It is possible to just adjust the operating link (whos name I forget ATM) but as I said why not fit all the bits which make up the NADS and make life easier.
Just search NADS or grenade on this site.

Thanks mate. I do have it all ready to install, but the way you say it in non-tech speak, it makes sense, and is easier to understand. I'll install the boost and Exhaust and drive it for a while then.

Appreciate you taking the time . . I did do a search, but here is so much information around, and to get a straight answer for what I wanted to know, it was starting to confuse the *#&$ out of me. I'm in a better frame of mind, now reading your post.

Cheers

Pm me your email addy mate. Ill send you my setup and install instructions for you to read. It should help you understand what both valves do a bit more.
But in a nut shell. The dawes just limits the max boost level, nothing more, nothing less. The needle valve lets you control the spool up rate of the turbo. Purely for performance. Yes you dont need to use a needle valve, many dont. but why wouldn't you install one if all its going to do is give your engine better performance?

You could also Google Chaz Yellowfoot who I believe is one
of the Gurus with the ZD30 motor among other here

X3 with the rest fitting the gauges is one of the better mods to do.
EG put on a 3" exhaust and your boost may go through the roof and
going into limp mode, another eg going up a big long hill,, foot into it
your EGTs will be soaring,, the gauges allow you to read the motor and back off
