Hi Guys,

I've just installed a duel battery set up in my truck, I'm running a Amaron starter and a Interstate Aux and have a nice new shiney winch sitting on my dining room table waiting to be installed.

Question: which battery do I run the winch off. I've been told to run it off the starter and just as many have told me to run it off the Aux. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

Cheers....Steve

Definitely the main battery for the amperage.
Main battery is the sprinter and aux battery is a long distance runner. Think of it that way.
The main has that burst amperage it needs for winching.

A winch needs [loves] CCA ,,,,, your start battery should have 750 CCA or better
A deep cycle would not have that many CCA, it may have 100AH

Yeah my starter is 750CCA and the aux is 105 AH, thanks guys for your wealth of knowledge, now I have to find time to install it, I bought a 12,000lb Grande Mark III from 4WD Supacentre along with some other stuff
