Hi there everyone.

I have a 1997 GQ Patrol and my RHS headlight has suddenly stopped working.

When i turn the headlights on the LHS works fine but the RHS doesn't. Also the mainbeam dash indicator comes on when I turn the headlights on. I have checked fuses, replaced the relay, cleaned the headlight terminals, checked the sealed beam headlight unit and all seem good.

Anyone have any ideas?

Might be a bad earth, or broken wire in the sealed beam terminal
check the terminal/socket with a multi meter to see if you have power

Check/Clean the headlight switch... that is another very common cause if you have already cleaned the earths.

While you are at it, you could put a set of relays in for the headlamps (wire them just like a set of driving lights or you can get looms already done up on Ebay or whatever).
The switches etc will last longer and the lights will usually be brighter

If the high beam warning light in the dash is coming on when on low beam as well as high beam you have a problem with the earth to the RHS headlight.

More then likely the plug on the back of the RHS headlight has melted.

If it has, it can be replace with something like this

Or you can do a headlight harness upgrade as stated above.

Thanks to all who sent advice for my faulty RHS headlight problem.

Turned out to be the fitting on the back of the headlamp. Replaced it with a new one and everything is sweet.

Nice one people.

Thanks for the advice. I replaced the plug on the back of headlight and it has done the trick.

Sweet.
