Hi guys, have a few questions here. My patrol 89 GQ LWB, 4.2 diesel.
1/ Disc brake back end is that standard?
2/ It has two handbrake setups, one on the floor is the that is operational, and it works off the tailshaft. The other at your knee and runs along the chassis towards the back wheel, what is with that?
3/ How do I tell if it's a ST/DX? Pretty sure it's not a TI (not that flash). It has A/C power steering if that helps.

Is it possible that it is an import? The standard hand brake is the one that goes to the back wheels. My 91 Ti has disc brake rear end and the rear wheel hand brake.

I know GQ's did have rear disk brakes but not sure on all models. The second hand brake I am not too sure about but it might be either rear sway bar disconnect which some GQ's had or something like an OX locker (cable operated). Where does it go? Into the diff pumpkin?

The one by your knee will be for the rear swaybar disconnect. Fiitted to some ST models an mainly to the TI.

Ahh yes that would be the sway bar disconnect. Does a light come on the dash to show if it's disengaged? You may have a Ti model if it has aircon and disconnects.

The sway bar disconnect will be visible from under the vehicle on the drivers side rear.

Mines got all that but is an ST...... STs have cloth seats, TIs should have either velour or leather seats and maybe carpet might be plusher

I'm thinking ST mate, it's got cloth seats. What year is yours? I thought I seen something about the early GQ didn't have rear discs.

Mines a December 92 build..... I thought drums were only on the early DX and some early Mavericks, could well be wrong though

Early DX have vinyl floor and no rear seat head rests. Sway at disconnects are nice, my Mav did not come with one.

Some of the early wagons and Shorties had Drum break rear ends too.

Also, there is the Nissan Fast software that you can download from this forum. Put your vin in and it should tell you what model, trim etc your vehicle came out of the factory with
