Yes they work well, they don't always split the log into 4, and sometimes you need to chase them along the log with a piece of pipe as they don't like to come out backwards. But they work, and for blocks I use a splitting axe. Cheers.

To clarify, these are about 200mm long and 80mm wide and 2kg. They are supposed to split a log in 4 pieces and aren't supposed to jam or fly out with pressure. (supposed to be very safe)
I've been looking at these recently and the net reports seem very good...but then again they always do. Thats why I thought I 'd ask

Thanks mate, I've used the standard wedges on big logs(sometimes 2, 3 or 4). I've seen these and thought these might save some time

Yeah, go for it mate, I used to make my own when getting fence posts, they are good on WA jarrah, but not the best on Whitegum or Tuart.
A week on these and you'll have muscles in ya poo.!!

If ya gunna do a lot, there is a tool that uses a 12 gauge shotgun cartridge, bit noisy in the back yard and dead giveaway if you're where you shouldn't be, they are pretty good too.

I cut trees for many years and never saw such a contraption, looks the goods tho. We only ever had a arsenal of wedges to get the job done

We do but they're only small. It would be great for camping.

Well, it seems to work pretty good. Doesn't always split the log in 4 but 2, 3 or 4...just depends. Didn't fly out and only got stuck once .
Pretty happy for $20.

What wood are you cutting with that Kris?

I would have that thing so jammed in the centre ring with the gums around here (red gum, yellow box, stringgy bark, ghost gums, etc) I would have to beat it out with a sledge hammer or burn the log down to get it out...lol....The only way I can chop wood around here is with the splitter and work your way around the rings.
